Edward Chesterfield Collection
Each Winchester Chesterfield is handmade in our British workshop using traditional upholstery methods passed down through generations. You can explore our full craft lineage in the Heritage Timeline, which documents how our techniques have evolved since the early makers.
The Edward Collection
The Edward Chesterfield is a refined, upright interpretation of the classic British design. With its slightly elevated back, beautifully rolled arms and deep hand‑buttoned upholstery, the Edward offers a poised, elegant silhouette that suits both traditional and contemporary interiors. Its proportions are slimmer and more tailored than heavier heritage models, giving it a graceful presence without losing the sculptural depth that defines a true Chesterfield. Built on a hand‑joined hardwood frame and upholstered entirely by hand, the Edward delivers a supportive, comfortable sit with enduring maker quality.

Craft & Construction
The Edward is individually hand deep‑buttoned across the back, arms and front border, with each pleat shaped by our skilled craftspeople to create a crisp, traditional diamond pattern. The slightly raised back gives the model its refined, upright profile, while the scroll arms are padded and sculpted by hand for comfort and symmetry.
The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. Every element is crafted using traditional British upholstery methods to ensure structure, comfort and long‑term durability.
This model is built using the same deep‑buttoning and hand‑tied techniques described in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring every Edward reflects true British maker skill rather than mass‑produced retail methods.
Made in England, One Piece at a Time
Every Winchester sofa is produced in small batches by trained upholsterers in England, maintaining the standards set out in our Workshop Principles and preserving the heritage of traditional British furniture making.
