Queen Anne Wing Chair

Queen Anne High Back Wing Chair
Each Winchester piece is handmade in our British workshop using traditional upholstery methods passed down through generations. You can explore our full craft lineage in the Heritage Timeline, and the techniques behind every model are detailed in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, which outlines the traditional methods we use to build each piece.

The Queen Anne High Back Wing Chair
The Queen Anne High Back Wing Chair is a refined, period‑inspired design that blends sculptural deep buttoning with the graceful curves of traditional scroll wings. With its tall, supportive back, hand‑buttoned upholstery and elegant Queen Anne wooden legs, this model captures the sophistication of early 18th‑century English furniture while maintaining the comfort and durability of a modern maker’s piece. The hand‑applied studwork frames the silhouette with precision, adding a tailored, heritage finish. Built on a hand‑joined hardwood frame and upholstered entirely by hand, the Queen Anne Wing Chair delivers a supportive, upright sit with timeless British character.

Craft & Construction
The Queen Anne Wing Chair is individually hand deep‑buttoned across the high back and scroll wings. Each pleat is shaped and each button is set by hand, creating a crisp, traditional diamond pattern that enhances the chair’s tall, sculptural profile. The scroll wings require exceptional precision, as the buttoning must follow the curved form without distortion, a hallmark of true British upholstery skill.
The silhouette is finished with hand‑applied studwork, placed one at a time along the wings and front border for accuracy and longevity.
Its defining structural feature is the set of solid Queen Anne wooden legs, crafted from kiln‑dried hardwood and finished by hand. The cabriole front legs and shaped rear legs give the chair its unmistakable period stance and refined elegance.
The internal frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. Every element is crafted using the traditional British upholstery methods outlined in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring structure, comfort and long‑term durability.

The Queen Anne Wing Chair is available in a wide choice of premium leathers selected for character, durability and natural ageing. Antique‑finished hides highlight the depth of the buttoning beautifully, while full‑grain leathers offer a more contemporary interpretation of this classic silhouette.
