The Ashbourne Chesterfield
Each Winchester Chesterfield is handmade in our British workshop using traditional upholstery methods passed down through generations. Our Heritage Timeline documents this lineage in detail, showing how our techniques have evolved from the early makers to the present day.
Ashbourne Chesterfield Sofa
A refined interpretation of the classic Chesterfield, defined by deep buttoning, scroll arms, and a hand‑joined hardwood frame built for a lifetime of use. The Stately edition introduces a fully hand‑buttoned seat, giving the Ashbourne its formal, architectural presence and unmistakable workshop character.

Craft & Construction
Individually hand deep‑buttoned across the back, arms and seat, each pleat is shaped by our skilled craftspeople to achieve the crisp, traditional diamond pattern associated with true British upholstery. The scroll arms are sumptuously padded and finished with individually hand‑nailed brass studs.
The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. This piece is built using the same deep‑buttoning and hand‑tied techniques described in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring every sofa reflects genuine maker skill rather than mass‑produced retail methods.

Made in England, One Piece at a Time
Every Winchester sofa is produced in small batches by trained upholsterers in England, maintaining the standards set out in our Workshop Principles and preserving the heritage of traditional British furniture making.
