Catherine Chesterfield Collection
Each Winchester Chesterfield is handmade in our British workshop using traditional upholstery methods passed down through generations. You can explore our full craft lineage in the Heritage Timeline, and the techniques behind every model are detailed in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, which outlines the traditional methods we use to build each piece.
The Catherine Collection
The Catherine Chesterfield is a bold, architectural interpretation of the classic British design. With its deep hand‑buttoned upholstery and distinctive square arms, the Catherine blends traditional craftsmanship with a clean, modern silhouette. The squared profile gives the model a contemporary edge, while the sculptural diamond‑tufted buttoning preserves the heritage character of a true maker’s piece. Built on a hand‑joined hardwood frame and upholstered entirely by hand, the Catherine delivers a supportive, structured sit with a striking, gallery‑like presence.

Craft & Construction
The Catherine is individually hand deep‑buttoned across the back, seat and square arms. Each pleat is shaped and each button is set by hand, creating a crisp, symmetrical diamond pattern that flows cleanly across the model’s angular frame. The square arms require exceptional precision, as the buttoning must meet the edges perfectly without distortion.
The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. The squared silhouette is reinforced internally to maintain sharp, architectural lines. Every element is crafted using the traditional British upholstery methods outlined in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring structure, comfort and long‑term durability.
