Hatfield Chesterfield Collection
Each Winchester Chesterfield is handmade in our British workshop using traditional upholstery methods passed down through generations. You can explore our full craft lineage in the Heritage Timeline, which documents how our techniques have evolved since the early makers.
The Hatfield Collection
The Hatfield Chesterfield is a refined, high‑back interpretation of the classic British design. With its elevated backrest, deep hand‑buttoning and beautifully rolled arms, the Hatfield offers a more upright, supportive sit while retaining the sculptural elegance of a true Chesterfield. Its proportions are stately yet balanced, making it a versatile choice for both period homes and contemporary interiors seeking a more distinguished silhouette. Built on a hand‑joined hardwood frame and upholstered entirely by hand, the Hatfield embodies the depth, comfort and longevity of traditional British craftsmanship.

Craft & Construction
The Hatfield is individually hand deep‑buttoned across its elevated back, arms and front border, with each pleat shaped by our skilled craftspeople to create a crisp, traditional diamond pattern. The higher back profile requires advanced upholstery skill to maintain tension and symmetry across the full height of the piece.
The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. The scroll arms are generously padded and finished with individually hand‑nailed studs, placed one at a time to complement the model’s refined proportions.
This model is crafted using the same deep‑buttoning and hand‑tied techniques described in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring every Hatfield reflects true British maker skill rather than mass‑produced retail methods.

Made in England, One Piece at a Time
