Oliver Button‑Seat Chesterfield Collection
Each Winchester Chesterfield is handmade in our British workshop using traditional upholstery methods passed down through generations. You can explore our full craft lineage in the Heritage Timeline, which documents how our techniques have evolved since the early makers.
The Oliver Button‑Seat Collection
The Oliver Button‑Seat Chesterfield is a deeply traditional interpretation of the classic British design. With its full hand‑buttoned seat, sculpted diamond‑tufted back and arms, and generously rolled scroll profile, the Oliver offers one of the most authentic heritage silhouettes in the Winchester range. The uninterrupted buttoning creates a continuous, architectural form that showcases the highest level of British upholstery skill. Built on a hand‑joined hardwood frame and upholstered entirely by hand, the Oliver delivers a firm, supportive sit with unmistakable maker quality and timeless presence.

Craft & Construction
The Oliver Button‑Seat is individually hand deep‑buttoned across the back, arms and full seat base. Each pleat is shaped by our skilled craftspeople, and every button is set by hand to ensure precision, tension and long‑term durability. The continuous buttoning requires advanced upholstery skill, as the seat must be perfectly tensioned to maintain comfort, structure and symmetry.
The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. The scroll arms are generously padded and finished with individually hand‑nailed studs, placed one at a time to complement the model’s traditional proportions.
This model is crafted using the same deep‑buttoning and hand‑tied techniques described in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring every Oliver reflects true British maker skill rather than mass‑produced retail methods.

Made in England, One Piece at a Time
