The Marlborough Stately is Winchester’s deepest, most indulgent Chesterfield, a model defined by its generous seating depth, sweeping profile and exceptional comfort. Built with individually coil‑sprung seating units, it offers a level of support and softness rarely found in modern Chesterfields, making it one of the most comfortable models available today.
Its silhouette is classic and composed: rolled arms, deep buttoning and balanced proportions that give the Marlborough its unmistakable presence. Every element is shaped by hand, creating a disciplined, maker‑led interpretation of this historic British form.
Craft & Construction
The Marlborough is hand deep‑buttoned across the back, arms and seat, with each pleat shaped individually by our upholsterers to achieve a crisp, traditional diamond pattern. The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for long‑term strength, and the seating is built using individually coil‑sprung units, each tied and set by hand to deliver a supportive, long‑lasting sit.
Every stage of construction follows the traditional British upholstery methods documented in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring the Marlborough reflects genuine workshop skill rather than mass‑produced retail techniques.
The Marlborough can be upholstered in any of our premium full‑grain, aniline or antique‑finished leathers. Each hide is selected, cut and prepared by hand, allowing the natural character of the leather to shape the final appearance of the piece. From rich antique tones to contemporary full‑grain finishes, the Marlborough carries leather beautifully, enhancing its depth, structure and classic Chesterfield profile.
The Marlborough Stately is built for comfort.
