The Wilfred Wing Chair
The Wilfred Wing Chair is a refined, understated interpretation of the classic British wing chair. With its smooth, plain back, plain wings and plain arms, the Wilfred celebrates clean tailoring and the natural beauty of premium leather. The tall wings create a protective, enveloping profile, while the solid wooden H‑frame base introduces a grounded, craftsman‑built presence. Hand‑applied studwork frames the silhouette with precision, adding a subtle heritage finish. Built on a hand‑joined hardwood frame and upholstered entirely by hand, the Wilfred delivers an upright, supportive sit with calm, modern‑heritage character.
Craft & Construction
The Wilfred is crafted with smooth, unbuttoned leather panels across the back, wings and arms. This plain‑panelled style demands exceptional precision in leather cutting, stretching and hand‑tacking, as every seam must run true and every curve must be perfectly shaped.
The silhouette is finished with hand‑applied studwork, placed one at a time along the wings and front border for accuracy, rhythm and longevity.
Its defining structural feature is the solid‑wood H‑frame base, crafted from kiln‑dried hardwood and finished by hand. The H‑frame provides stability, visual balance and a traditional craftsman aesthetic that complements the clean upholstery.
The internal frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. Every element is crafted using the traditional British upholstery methods outlined in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring structure, comfort and long‑term durability.
The Wilfred Wing Chair is available in a wide choice of premium leathers selected for character, durability and natural ageing. Because the model is unbuttoned, the leather’s natural grain, texture and patina become the focal point, making full‑grain and premium hides especially striking on this design.
