The Alexander Chair is a poised, architectural design shaped with the same heritage craftsmanship and material discipline that define every Winchester piece. Its fluted back creates a refined vertical rhythm, giving the chair a composed, upright presence suited to dining rooms, studies and formal interiors. Handmade using authentic materials and traditional upholstery techniques, the Alexander balances proportion, comfort and quiet elegance. The straight hardwood legs provide a clean, structured foundation, anchoring the chair within the English furniture tradition while offering a more contemporary silhouette. Craft & Construction
The Alexander Chair is crafted using the same heritage methods applied to our classic seating, with every stage shaped by hand in accordance with the principles outlined in our Craft & Upholstery Guide.
The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for long‑term strength. The fluted back is upholstered by hand, with traditional padding techniques used to achieve its sculptural, vertical form. The plain seat offers a clean, timeless appearance, while the straight legs introduce a crisp, structured detail that distinguishes the Alexander within the Winchester collection.
Every detail, from the leather cutting to the hand‑tacked upholstery, reflects the discipline and precision of true British craftsmanship.
