The George High Back Chesterfield is one of the most commanding silhouettes in the Winchester range. With its elevated backrest, deep hand‑buttoned upholstery and generously rolled arms, the George offers a stately, upright posture that reflects the grandeur of early British lounge furniture. The high back enhances both comfort and presence, creating a model that feels protective, enveloping and unmistakably heritage. Built on a hand‑joined hardwood frame and upholstered entirely by hand, the George delivers a firm, supportive sit with a distinguished, traditional character.

Craft & Construction
The George is individually hand deep‑buttoned across the high back, arms and front border. Each pleat is shaped and each button is set by hand, creating a crisp, traditional diamond pattern that accentuates the model’s tall, sculptural profile. The elevated back requires additional internal framing and tensioning to maintain its height and symmetry over time.
The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. The scroll arms are generously padded and finished with individually hand‑nailed studs, placed one at a time for precision and longevity. Every element is crafted using the traditional British upholstery methods outlined in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring structure, comfort and long‑term durability.

The George is available in a wide choice of premium leathers selected for character, durability and natural ageing. Antique‑finished hides highlight the depth of the buttoning beautifully, while full‑grain leathers offer a more contemporary interpretation of this tall, sculptural silhouette.
