The Stratford Collection
The Stratford Chesterfield is a refined, contemporary interpretation of the traditional button‑seat design. With its full hand‑buttoned seat, elegantly rolled arms and clean, balanced proportions, the Stratford offers a sculptural, uninterrupted silhouette that celebrates true heritage upholstery. Built on a hand‑joined hardwood frame and crafted entirely by hand, it delivers a firmer, supportive sit and a sophisticated presence suited to both modern and period interiors.
Craft & Construction
The Stratford is individually hand deep‑buttoned across the back, arms and full seat base, creating a continuous diamond pattern that showcases the highest level of traditional British upholstery skill. Each pleat is shaped by our craftspeople, and every button is set by hand to ensure precision, tension and long‑term durability.
The frame is hand‑joined from solid hardwood, dowelled, glued and screwed for enduring strength. The scroll arms are refined and neatly proportioned, finished with individually hand‑nailed studs placed one at a time to complement the model’s clean, elegant lines.
This model is crafted using the same deep‑buttoning and hand‑tied techniques described in our Craft & Upholstery Guide, ensuring every Stratford reflects true British maker skill rather than mass‑produced retail methods.
